FAULT LINES / 2010-12
Wood, synthetic resin

In geology, fault line (also break, crack, dislocation or disruption) describes a line of breakage which sets 2 rocks against each other.
After my work with metal chains which were disrupted, deconstructed and finally reconstructed in a different shape, with Fault lines I interpret the classical threading of bead chains in a novel way. Some sections of threaded wooden beads are stiffened by synthetic resin and then divided in a certain way – on the one hand, to bare the original material – wood; on the other hand, to re-construct the threading according to a different rationale with clearly visible breaks and dislocations.
